The Coping Coach is me — Adam Phillips. ... And if you have any kind of physical impairment — I’m just like you!

More years ago than I care to remember, I made the conscious decision to not let my physical deformities hinder me in my quest to live a satisfying and successful life. I’ve achieved a measure of success in this regard (... but the quest continues — and probably will until my body and spirit part company).

I learned independence and self-sufficiency at an early age — thanks to my parent’s encouragement and influence.

For this I am truly thankful!

Being at a physical disadvantage, I knew I had to develop specific intellectual

and emotional skills early — and I had to develop them fast! However, I didn’t let my disabilities stop me from trying to physically compete anyway — even though I knew I stood a good chance of coming off second best. ... I guess I just refused to give up.

My career so far has been exciting and varied — including jobs like newspaper delivery boy, student, graphics designer, temporary construction worker, software developer, business owner, Internet marketer and copywriter, photographic model, and part-time marketing and career coach. Boring has definitely not been part of the equation!

In between all of that, I managed to get a university computer science diploma and a B.Com degree, plus fall in love with, and marry a stunningly attractive woman, and start a family of my own.

With a life so full, you may be wondering why I decided to specifically coach people of all ages struggling with physical challenges?

One day, I mentioned my disability in passing to a colleague of mine. She was surprised! I was surprised that she was surprised, because I don’t attempt to hide my disfigurements. She then gave me the most genuine compliment I have ever heard ...

She said, “I never even noticed your disability! It must be because you are totally comfortable in your own skin.”

That comment made me realize for the first time that I can add something valuable to the lives of others like me — my life insights and disability coping strategies.

I coach because I want to help you to also achieve greater levels of success and personal contentment in your life. I coach because I have more than just an intellectual understanding of your physical challenges — I have a measure of practical experience in the field too. I want to help you succeed in whatever path you choose.
