Why Your Organization Needs a Motivational Speaker

The fear of speaking in front of an audience rates higher on the Anxiety Scale than the fear of death for most people … so I hear. Although I couldn’t find any hard statistics, it’s not hard to believe — given the anecdotal evidence.

Let’s face it — listening to a senior executive at the annual company Road Show is probably NOT the most inspiring event in your employee’s diaries.

It’s a double whammy for companies, because most employees don’t want to be there in the first place, and most of the speakers would rather not be speaking (… unless you happen to be like Sir Richard Branson, Barack Obama, or Al Gore).

This isn’t the most conducive environment for imparting critical company information.

This means that the messages you want to impart don’t actually penetrate the consciousness of your audience effectively, because the collective audience mind is not in a receptive state.

Instead, the individuals in the audience are feeling bored … worrying about their work that is piling up while they sit there … thinking about what’s for lunch … or fantasizing about the gorgeous blonde in the fifth row from the front. It’s a situation I call presenteeism — there in body, but absent in mind!

The solution is actually simple. ...

To get your message across effectively — you need to actively engage the minds of the audience. When the collective audience mind is “tuned-in” with the speaker … at ease … wanting to listen, ONLY THEN will they be prepared to accept the message you put forward. Granted, this is easier said than done ...

... that’s why you need a motivational speaker.

There are many techniques that public speakers use to engage the audience. Some use humor, some use storytelling. Others use current events, personal histories and experiences, shock tactics, audience participation, or even a mixture of techniques.

The real power comes from combining these engagement techniques with the message you want to put across. When the mind is in a positive frame, almost any message that you want to convey can be accepted — even bad news!

In this receptive mind set, your employees will be exposed to other viewpoints, they’ll learn to challenge the status quo, they’ll be motivated to rise above their circumstances — and most of all they’ll ENJOY the experience! And if they enjoy it, they’ll remember the messages that you pass to them.

In other words, this is coaching en masse!

How I Work

I only work to a written company brief. I only talk about what’s in that brief. In other words — I only talk about what YOU want me to talk about! Of course, I’ll flavor the presentation in my own unique way, but the essence of the presentation will be according to the brief. This means that your audience will receive the message you want them to receive in the most effective way possible.

Some information in that brief may be confidential or critical to your company, so I always prefer to sign a confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement during the initial discussion phase. This protects your company’s interests and covers my butt!

My speaking fees are fully negotiable, and vary depending on the amount of preparation work and time involved.

I consider both local and international assignments.

Please fill out the form below, and I’ll contact you directly to set up a preliminary meeting to discuss your company’s needs regarding motivational speaking.
